Oral history interview conducted with Jim Whittaker at the 2013 American Alpine Club Annual Benefit Dinner. Mr. Whittaker speaks about the 1963 American Mount Everest Expedition, conservation and his love of climbing and mountaineering and for the outdoors. Topics also include tissue deterioration due to lack of oxygen in the Death Zone, the differences between climbing Everest today and climbing it in 1963, the friendships he formed with his expedition team members and his wife Dianne Roberts, who is also an accomplished mountaineer in her own right.
