An account of the resource
Bradford Washburn (1910-2007) built a career as a distinguished mountaineer, photographer, and professional cartographer. He is best known for his aerial photography and the quality and precision of his mountain photography.
The Bradford Washburn Photographs consist of 178 photographs dated 1929-1994 (bulk 1930s-1979). The majority of the images show mountains and glaciers in Alaska, particularly Denali and other locations in the Alaska Range. Each photograph is framed, and most are signed and dated by the photographer.
Photographs with accession numbers in the range 2008.2.1-175 were acquired by the American Alpine Club in 2008.
